Penang Half DayTrip

22 August 2010

I did not real explore Penang Island in ages.
Such a shame for being a Penangite as I don't know well about Penang.

My friend organized a Penang half day trip and I definitely joined them.
First stop: Toy Museum
It is owned by Mr Loh Lean Cheng with his toys, dolls, and other fun figuring collections. Some of the collectibles are able to recall our childhood memories such as Popeye, Combat, Ninja Turtles and etc.
It's pretty much fun to see especially for kids.

2nd Stop: Pinang Peranakan Mansion (Baba & Nyonya House)

Peranakan (a.k.a. Baba & Nyonya) was a Chinese community who adopted
the selected ways of local Malay and settled especially in the Strait Settlement
(Penang, Malacca and Singapore) in the late 15th and 16th century. Therefore, the other name for Peranakan is called Strait Chinese.

This heritage mansion is huge and well-presented their custom and tradition.
I was so impressed with its architecture especially the carved-wood artwork.
Definitely a worth place to visit!

Last Stop: Bukit Genting
We drove up to the top of Bukit Genting.
It's a nice little place to relax yourself with its mountain view.

We had our dinner here with Thai food and then waiting for sunset.
This was my first time to see the sunset.
You have to be more patience to observe the whole process from the beginning until
the sun sets down.

It was a wonderful day!
Hopefully we could have more trips to go......
